Magazine Project Planning 1
The first magazine i'm analyzing is called Condé Nast Traveler, which is a luxury and lifestyle travel magazine. This magazine has won twenty-five National Magazine Awards. This issue is from the month december 2017. The magazienes cover consists of the title taking up the top fifth of the Magazine, with a short phrase Your's for the weekend below. The whole cover is an image of an older building. The colors through the magazine are bright and vibrant, taking place in pictures within articles, as well as advertisements. The text in the table of contents is off to one third of the page with a picture taking up two thirds. Text through articles in the magazine varies per article page with some pages having 60:40 ratio of text to pictures to some having a 20:80 Ratio. Every page is different and their are at least 6 different ratios throughout the magazine. An image of a winery in France appears of the cover page, a photo of woman walking on a street in Uzbekistan appear in the table of contents and images of building architecture, scenery, and food make there way in articles. Since this is a luxury travel magazine advertisements consist of designer clothing products, such as Gucci, Rolex, and Louis Vuitton. The magazine also has luxury island resorts and hotel ads.The advertisements frequency seems to be, every other page is an ad so roughly 50% ads. the advertisements stick generally to the right side pages. The articles in the magazine are about different places to visit and the authors descriptions of them, and each article takes place is in a different country. The article are on the left side pages for the most part. The front and back two pages are advertisements.
