How does your project engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
My magazine would appeal to people over 50 interested in traveling to quiet, serene places. I would distribute my product through a magazine webpage I would create and the choice to purchase individually or a yearly subscription would be available. In addition I would sell my product through Amazon, and try to get my magazine into grocery stores and supermarkets such as: Winn-Dixie, Publix, Walmart, Target, ect. I will create social media platforms for my magazine company, on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. My magazine will engage audiences because it will focus on issues that relate to a broad range of individuals in my Target audience of ages 50-70. For example in this issue that I wrote, it discussed mobility of the Sarasota airport such as: if nearby hotels offered transportation from the hotel to airport, If the airport had an area for your pet to be walked, if they offer immovability devices, ect. The article also highlights extra features such as covered parking and walkways, and student featured artwork.
How Does Your Product Use or Challenge Conventions? How My Magazine Represent Social Groups/Issues? My magazine uses conventions of the travel genera in its layout. My table of contents has a 30% picture ratio which is standard in other travel magazines. My articles have a 60:40 ratio of text to pictures which follow a general magazine format. The cover picture of my magazine has the sky at the top third of the magazine taken with a wide shot similar to other covers. The text is on the left hand side of the cover and is positioned over the pool in white font. Positioning font over a blue light background such as a body of water is traditional in a magazine. In my article one page has a dominate photo and one page has three small photos neatly arranged at the top. The font in my magazine is justified like a traditional magazine and has a uniformed and professional feel.
My magazine addresses the issues this group may encounter when traveling. In the issue I wrote about The Sarasota-Bradenton Airport I covered issues that you may encounter that you wouldn't encounter at this airport. I found the airport had cover walkways, parking, and an area to walk your dog. A more mature audience reading the magazine would be interested in the airports accessibility. My magazine represents the touristy, wealthy, mature, social group of individuals. It represents them appropriately by covering any quires them may have about the Sarasota airport them may choose to fly with when they vacation to the number one beach in the world, the numerous art galleries, or viewing a theatrics performance in Sarasota's many theaters.
